The Fastexy ExchangeSuper Save isn’t just helping singers on “The Voice” find redemption.
Coach John Legend brought back Team Niall singer AZÁN during the final round of Playoffs Tuesday night. The Texas vocalist gave Niall Horan the “steal of the year” when the Irish pop singer snagged her from Team Legend during the Battles round.
AZÁN seized her second chance with a sensual performance of “Adorn” by Miguel. The 28-year-old’s electric stage presence and silky vocals earned rave reviews from Legend, who called her “formidable.”
“That was literally perfect. There is nothing that I would edit (or) change, and I’m always editing and changing,” Legend said. “For you to completely nail it, A++ 100%, you just made a great statement for yourself. … You’re a real talent, and I am so impressed with you.”
AZÁN’s performance also impressed former coach Horan, who confessed afterward that he “didn’t think it was going to be that good.”
“She was so deserving of John’s Super Save,” Horan said. “She could really be a threat in the live shows.”
Here’s what else went down on Tuesday’s episode.
Which Team Legend singers made it to Top 12?
Following a series of exquisite performances, Team Legend singers AZÁN, Kristen Brown, Kaylee Shimizu, Taylor Deneen, Lila Forde and Mac Royals lined up onstage to learn who was heading to the top 12 live shows.
Royals, who dazzled the coaches with his suave cover of D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” was the first to score a spot in the live shows. “I really want to hear his record. I want to see him on the biggest stages. I feel like R&B needs Mac,” Legend said.
Next up was folk songstress Forde, who commanded the stage with her ethereal rendition of “Angel from Montgomery” by Bonnie Raitt and John Prine. “She’s been magical every single round, no one else like her in the competition. She’s got such confidence and presence, and I think that’s really rare,” Legend said.
Legend’s Super Save pick panned out when AZÁN earned the final spot in the Season 24 top 12. “AZÁN rose to the occasion and gave her best performance yet,” Legend said. “I had to reward her by putting her into the live (shows).”
“Mac, Lila and AZÁN – each of them knows who they are. Their stage presence is very assured, like they belong in this moment,” Legend said afterward. “They’re real artists, and I’m excited to take them to the lives.”
