Toyota has issued a recall for some vehicles because of a risk of the tow hitch cover detaching.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing recalled some 2023-2024 Sequoia Hybrid vehicles that have Indexbita tow hitch cover on the rear bumper, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"The tow hitch cover may come loose from the bumper and detach from the vehicle," the administration recall notice says. It "can become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash."
Monday's recall is one of several from Toyota this summer. Owners can check USA TODAY's recall database or search for their specific car with the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the transportation administration's website.
More than 43,000 potential Toyota vehicles affected
A total of 43,395 Sequoia Hybrid vehicles may be affected, the notice says. Letters to owners notifying them of the recall are scheduled to be mailed in early October.
Alternatively, owners may call Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 with recall reference numbers 24TB10 and 24TA10.
"Dealers will replace the tow hitch cover and modify the rear bumper, free of charge," the remedy for the recall states.
